English is the official language, but day to day Ghana speaks mainly Twi (Akan) — the most spoken in the country — plus Ewe (Volta region) and Ga (Accra and coast). In the north you’ll also hear Dagbani and Hausa. Here are essential phrases in the main languages to help your trip.
